Pricing
Let’s talk about pricing. Every business owner has the struggle of figuring out how much to charge for your products or services because there’s so many factors that play into it.
I follow a fair amount of other social media managers/marketers, and they’re always talking about pricing and how you should charge what you’re worth- and I agree. But there’s also something I factor in; I don’t live in L.A. or New York City. My ideal client isn’t a $6 million dollar a year operation. I’m in Alaska. My ideal client is the business owner runs their business out of their home; the business owner that has kids my kids go to school with; the business owner that isn’t a CEO, the one who is just….a person.
So am I worth $2k+ a month per client? I’d like to think I am. But that’s not where I want to be. I want to be with the people who run their business with a baby on their hip and a moose in their yard.
So while I have wondered if my pricing turns people away because they think I’m lower quality, and maybe it does. But there’s plenty of other people in the area who are probably more what they’re looking for. I want to always stay affordable, or at the very least always have affordable options. I don’t want you to have to eat ramen and beetles in order to pay my invoice. I’m not trying to “price other people” out of business, I’m just making sure the tiny operations in Alaska have a fighting chance in the digital landscape.
